This open-air event promises an assortment of beverages and palate-pleasing plates. Restaurants and food vendors from across the Lower Keys and Key West donate their staffs’ time and extraordinary culinary talents to create delectable small plates. Foodies can stroll edibles and drinkables, ranging from seafood, tropical and Caribbean flavors, to European dishes, vegetarian offerings, and desserts. Taste of Key West gates open at 6PM for general admission.

5. Celebrate Tennessee Williams’ Birthday

Key West loves Tennessee Williams as much as he once loved our little 4 by 2 mile island! We celebrate his birthday every year with locally acted productions of his most famous plays and showings of his works that made it to the big screen. It doesn’t end there. He’s honored with short story writing and painting contests complete with prizes and an awards ceremony…and cake, because what birthday is complete without cake?!? Visit their website to sign up to compete or to purchase tickets to the shows and events.

4.  Delight in delicious “Dock to Dish” cuisine.

The Docks is our new favorite seafood spot that’s tucked away and off the beaten path. Located just one island north of Key West, in Stock Island, this restaurant & raw bar is the epitome of island dining. As indicated by the name, it’s situated right on the fishing docks so not only are you experiencing a taste of “Old Key West” but you’re guaranteed to be served the freshest seafood available. With award winning food and drinks, this spot is a must see while visiting Key West. The modern industrial interior is an ode to the working waterfront that surrounds and sustains the restaurant. Open 7 days a week, with happy hour 3-5 Monday through Thursday. Visit their website here to check out all they have to offer!!

3. Conch Blowing Contest

Put your lungs to the test at the Annual Conch Blowing Contest! The contest is open to all ages and celebrates the historical importance of conch shells here in the Florida Keys, also lovingly known as “The Conch Republic”. The use of conch shells here in Keys dates back centuries, and locals and visitors alike will have their chance to become this year’s winner and is a great way to experience a very unique part of Key West culture. Registration begins 10am, contest begins 12pm

What better way to spend a Key West evening than having a drink while watching the sunset on a rooftop? Head to the Studios of Key West roof terrace for the best views in town, and an ideal spot to catch the sunset and a drink with friends. The bar is open, admission is free, and everyone looks great in the golden twilight.

It’s never a bad time to jump on the Historic Seaport Tour, but March happens to be a particularly great time to do so. The sun is out, the food is hot, and the drinks are on ice. Guests get taken “behind the scenes” of Duval and led through side streets which feature some of THE BEST (but not always most widely known) eateries Key West, FL has to offer! As a bonus, your guide stops throughout the tour to highlight architectural, historical, and cultural fun facts. You leave full and happen to learn something while getting there…money well spent.
